On Christmas Eve I posted here about the deeply conflictual nature of Christmas. I acknowledged there that themes other than conflict are part of the biblical account of the meaning of the incarnation. One of them is the theme of celebration. We find the theme of celebration already in the appearance of the angels to the shepherds. We see it reiterated near the end of the canon where we read of the wedding feast of the lamb and his people in Revelation 19.
Our celebration certainly includes our family (seen below traipsing through The Great Dismal Swamp two days ago):
And even the animals can share (sort of) in this festive occasion:
Indeed, the divine triumph culminating in the renewal of all things is a cause for celebration. Merry Christmas.
