An oldie but goodie of nearly two years ago about corporate purpose (here) can be updated by reading parts of an interview with, John Mackey, CEO of Wholefoods here. For more of my thoughts on the telos of corporations you can go here and here. In short, it's not clear that corporations should be treated as persons if they have no purpose apart from maximization of shareholder economic value. Not a denial of legal persons-hood, mind you, because lots of natural persons have no early purpose apart from maximization of personal wealth. But utility alone does not a person make.
